The Lorax Truffula Trees Cupcakes | Recipe

by Danielle Robbins

This weekend was a very Lorax weekend and I’m not ashamed that I was dragged in by it’s cuteness! We went to see the film on Dr. Seuss’ birthday and finished the weekend off with some Lorax themed pancakes and green eggs and ham at Ihop. All the joy made me want to create a Lorax themed cupcake of my own. The Truffula Trees reminded me of sweet and delicious cotton candy and I new I was on to a tasty treat! And yes, you guessed it; I’ve got a recipe for homemade cotton candy coming your way! These cupcakes are perfect for birthday parties or maybe that little extra bit of cute that your weekend needs.

15 Stupefying Movie Subtitles

Movies have a hard time coming up with good subtitles. I for one love a good subtitle, it adds so much nothing to a movie and yet it makes or breaks a film. Subtitles are pointless; they have a better chance of subtracting than adding, but damn if they aren’t amusing. It’s always interesting to see what a studio exec thinks is a good idea for an original subtitle, considering most subtitles are just “the Movie”. (Side note: do you really have to tell us it’s a film version of a property? I’m in a theatre; I don’t think I’m reading a comic book.) These are the failures of subtitling. And by failures I mean achievements. And by achievements I mean failures. Acting!

The Index | 9 Best TV Shows About Food

by Danielle Robbins

When I’m not in the mood to bake or cook (which isn’t often) I turn to the tube to get my foodie fix. I’ve limited the list to food shows that are currently running or are about to start a new season because there’s just too many to choose from if I don’t. Ace of Cakes is out of the running even though it’s one of my favorites and Martha, I hate to say it, but your show was much more enticing pre-jail (but I still love her). So without further adieu here are my favorite television shows about food.

The Index | 11 Movies by the Numbers

by David Robbins

Numbers are everywhere. We time our lives to them, we shape science with them, we revolve our economy around them, and we sometimes name our movies after them. What are the Internet’s favorite numbers? Easy, anything between 0 and 10. The Interwebs are obsessed with numbers, movies love to count in their titles, so what better way to honor this tradition than a top 10 top 10 list. Technically, it’s a top 11 top 11, but even numbers are better. You could say that this list is partially inspired by the release of Super 8, what with its numerical value stabbing you in the title face, and I wouldn’t stop you from thinking so. Obviously this list would suck if I allowed any film with a number tacked on, so no sequels or prequels. Also, Gary Oldman is involved with three of these films, which effectively makes him the king of numbers. Congrats Commissioner.
