Just like the rest of America, I too went and saw the Hunger Games this weekend. I new that from the moment I heard they were making a movie out of the book I wanted to make a recipe from it. But I just couldn’t decide what to make. There is so much food portrayed in the book and the film, the choice was hard. I was stumped until I saw Katniss’ big moment on the screen where she shoots the apple out of the pigs mouth, earning her an 11. This is where the inspiration for Plum Candy Apples was born. Alright, lets get started!

This weekend was a very Lorax weekend and I’m not ashamed that I was dragged in by it’s cuteness! We went to see the film on Dr. Seuss’ birthday and finished the weekend off with some Lorax themed pancakes and green eggs and ham at Ihop. All the joy made me want to create a Lorax themed cupcake of my own. The Truffula Trees reminded me of sweet and delicious cotton candy and I new I was on to a tasty treat! And who knows this may even be a healthier alternative to the real thing…

Back in April I reviewed a very cute and absolutely delicious cookbook called Cake Pops (You can see the review here). This past week I took a trip down to Los Angeles to go to a friend’s wedding and visit some good friends I haven’t seen for a while. As a gift for letting me crash on couches I brought along some cake pops. As always cake pops get gobbled up pretty quickly and it dawned on me that I needed to share the recipe! With a few tweaks from the book this recipe will absolutely please anyone you place them in front of. Plus they look just so darn cute.

Blackberries and Strawberries are in season. Every time I walk through the produce section of my local grocery store I can’t help but think of recipes that include these tasty morsels. As recipes of fruit dance through my head, I remembered this nice and light berry treat I found a few months ago. I just had to try it! So hear are the fruits (yes that did just happen) of my berry bonanza.
